The Bourne, Oregon Tee's Story

Bourne, also known as Cracker City, is a small, deserted town just outside Sumpter, Oregon along the banks of Cracker Creek. Named after it's founder, Jonathan Bourne, Jr., Bourne was strictly a booming mining town in the late 1800's. This town was known all over the world as it's mine tapped into great mother load of the Blue Mountains - the world's largest unbroken gold vein. Although highly profitable, the gold vein soon dried up & with it, the once booming town of Bourne. By 1908, most miners & families relocated to more prosperous towns nearby, leaving Bourne unsupported & abandoned. Today, the ghost town of Bourne is part of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest.

While there's no shortage of t-shirt shops around, we've committed to going our own way. It's that type of thinking that led us off-roading and in search of new iconic routes in the first place (much to our wive's delight). Read more...
